Archaic style bronze belt (copy)

Elaborate wrought bronze plate of 17 cm width attached to a leather layer with red leather interior lining. The fastening mechanism consists of two sizeable copper rings held together by rivets on the belt. Belts of this type were used as symbols of high social status.

The griffins follow the archaic artistic line. The inside of the belt is covered with fine red leather. The width is 10 cm. For civilian as well as for military use.

Heavy decorated belt with bronze plates

Waving meanders in three parallel lines run across the belt’s copper sides while the intermediate rear space is covered with geometric-inspired spherical patterns. The belt’s fastening mechanism consists of two pairs of copper rings.

Set of four “stleggides” (scrapers) from wrought bronze rods

Set of four “stleggides” (scrapers) from wrought bronze rods. These pieces were used to remove mud and soil from the skin of athletes after the end of training in gyms and palaestrae. There were many sizes and shapes with wooden or metal handles. The various sizes catered for different parts of body.
